Leadership Wilson

I am on the Board of Directors of Leadership Wilson and this is one of the many organizations I am involved with. It seems there are still people who do not know that Leadership Wilson is and what purpose the organization serves for our community.

Leadership Wilson, was founded in 1993. It is a non-profit organization that serves the community and educates leaders in Wilson County.  It’s mission is clear as stated on the website – Leadership Wilson serves to identify, train, and motivate individual citizens in community leadership.

The process for becoming involved with Leadership Wilson is fairly simple. Go to the website at and fill out the online application under the “How To Apply” menu option.

Your application will be reviewed by the Board and participants will be selected. There is a series of classes which will take one day a month of your time for nine months. Around 30 participate in the classes each year.

The classes are geared towards presenting and analyzing a particularly important segment of the county, including government, health care and social services, agriculture, business and industry, public safety, education and quality of life.

And there is also a program for Wilson County High School students called Youth Leadership Wilson.

Leadership Wilson is a great organization. If you are serious about being involved in the community or just want to learn more about how it works, then it will be well worth your time to get involved with Leadership Wilson.  So go to the website and check it out. It is a great opportunity to become more involved in your community and meet a few new people.
