Trust


Trust is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as, “reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something; one in which confidence is placed”.

When you do business with someone, you have to believe in their character, values, and honesty before you can be confident in doing business with them. In other words, you have to trust them. And that is sometimes a difficult thing to do, especially in today’s society.

Trust is something that must be earned and that is one of the things I try to establish when I first meet someone. I understand I sometimes can’t gain their trust immediately, but hopefully over time I can earn their trust. And having clients who can speak for me about my values and how I run my business is the foundation my business is built on. There is nothing more important than taking care of current clients and making sure they are confident in the fact that I will be there in their time of need.

It has taken years of networking, getting to know people in the community, and being involved in the community to gain the trust of my customers and those who are not yet my customers. But is has been worth every minute. The friendships gained and the opportunity to contribute to this amazing community have been the highlights of my career.

So if business is not what you think it should be or you don’t have enough customers, think about what you are contributing to the community as a whole, and how you are taking care of your current customers. Are you spending your time earning their trust?
